If you are looking for a new experience unlike any other, this is the place to be.

Family Corn Grinding

For a Limited Time

The most requested Native American program for group visitors in Northeast Florida is finally being made available to the general public for a limited time. Old Florida Museum is well known for its dynamic hands-on programs, normally only available to groups. These popular presentations typically fill up a year in advance by reservation, but for a brief period in response to an increased curiosity and high demand these one of a kind interactive programs are being offered to the general public.

OUR PERSONAL GUARANTEE

“We are so confident that this will be the most exciting and interesting experience you will encounter during your visit to St. Augustine that if you’re not completely satisfied, it’s free.”                   Charles F. Ponce, Jr. Curator

  • Who did the Florida Indians call the “stinky race”?

  • What shocked the Spanish settlers upon first glance at these peculiar Florida inhabitants?

  • What unimaginable thing did these local natives do with fish bladders?

  • What brought about the extinction of the Timucua Indians?…..and it’s not what you think!

Everyday distractions vanish the moment you enter.

You will be amazed as your personal guide fashions an arrowhead right before your eyes. Listen to the sounds of the natural sulfur spring as you help shape a hand hewn dugout canoe with flint and shell. Learn how to bait and catch an alligator for the family meal, and use an old stump and a club to make corn meal. Imagine starting your very first fire “Indian style”.  Unite the family together in a competitive game of “corn darts”.
